Joshua Tree~ Kicking Off Second Semester

Joshua Tree is definitely one that's been on my list for awhile, and a place I was really happy to go with friends. That's another thing about these places, going with family can be fun and fulfilling in its own way, but there's something different about going with friends. Friends are the family you can choose, you know? I trust these people with my life, and having adventures with them is not only an honor, but a privilege. Also Collin's annoying for not putting down the cactus pop for the photo, but that's neither here nor there.

Joshua Tree was an excursion we used Nickel's car light gray Honda civic for. A lot of really cool places are just close enough we get to say "ah, that's only 2-3 hours away!" but just far enough that we realize "crap.... by car". That's why it's really nice having a friend with a car, because it not only saves resources financially, but we can also widen the circle to fit more friends!

It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but I actually thought Joshua Tree was one singular tree. 'Twas not. To be fair Nickel thought so too, but I suppose that's irrelevant. Joshua Tree wasn't too bad temperature wise, and the sunset was downright gorgeous.

We started the trip with some mandatory Starbucks and ended it with Jack in the Box. We pulled over on the side of the road on the way back to see some stars, and the night sky in Joshua Tree is indescribable. The desert at night is also freezing like you've never felt before, so bring 6 more jackets than you think you'll need!

A weird thing we did which I wasn't expecting to do but we did anyways is collect rocks. The rocks at Joshua Tree are this really pretty pink color and I plan on making my rocks into jewelry. Who knows, maybe one day I'll start a desert rock-inspired jewelry line.
